Winchester Wedding Photography
Hotel du Vin
Tori and Brooke
I had the pleasure in mid February of photographing an amazing wedding. The love of two people, the live life to the full personalities, the colour, the scent of the flowers, the exquisite food, plus much more all came together on this one day in February. I hope I have captured most of the day's highlights and have included some in this blog.
I arrived around 9.30 at Hotel du Vin in Winchester and headed straight to the bridal suite where happy chaos ensued. It seemed everyone possible had congregated to get ready. This was never going to be a traditional wedding, I loved the photographic opportunities of so many people in one room, the busy bustling atmosphere of Tori and Brooke with their 'besties' plus the girls' mums.
Every so often there would be a knock on the door and a family guest would poke their head in to offer their good wishes.
Tori and Brooke decided to have a Humanist service and had chosen Lisa Von Fircks a humanist celebrant based in Alresford to conduct the ceremony. Lisa conducts ceremonies all over the south of England and beyond. It was a beautiful ceremony written with Tori and Brooke in mind and involved Tori's parents and Brooke's mother. Brooke and Tori also wrote their own vows to each other and the two flower girls were also involved with the symbolic mixing of two different colour sands. There were many tears of joy.
The next part of the day involved a few glasses of champagne, lots of chat and much laughter. After a brief stop in the courtyard for some confetti fun and the group photo taken with me hanging out of the window, everyone walked round to The Orangery. I love this part of Hotel du Vin, warm colours and beautiful mirrors make some interesting photographs.
This gave the wonderful hardworking and efficient staff at Hotel du Vin time to clear away the ceremony room and prepare for the wedding breakfast in the Ruinart Room. Some show stopping flowers stole the guests attention - designed by David Connell of Flowers Crown Brighton.
The wedding breakfast is one part of the wedding day I really love, the speeches are usually really entertaining and often very emotional and this wedding breakfast was no exception. The guests on every table were very lively and a competition of who could be the craziest or even the nosiest soon became evident. Time for me to take some candid shots.
The weather was very clement for February and the double doors out to the courtyard were open all afternoon. After the three course meal everyone congregated under the strings of fairy lights strewn across the courtyard. As dusk fell it was a great opportunity to have fun with a sparkler or two
As the food for the evening guests was being brought out the couple decided to cut the cake, a giant sized cup cake with many smaller ones in cases matching the couples's colour scheme.
Thank you to Tori and Brooke for making me feel so welcome, I had a great day.
