A visit from Santa
I had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to be transported back to a magical time of childhood when the anticipation of seeing Santa or Father Christmas as we called him, was almost too much to bear. Eagle House School in Sandhurst, Surrey was my destination where the PTA of the school had invited Santa to come and listen to children's wishes for Christmas and to give them a little gift. He was incredibly patient and an extremely good listener to the extent that we ran over time on several occasions. It was so reassuring though in a time when Christmas can be so hectic that children on the most part take everything at such a slow pace and Santa echoed this pace.
Christmas is such a special time of year but can be incredibly frantic in many ways. I still have a wedding to shoot this year, a couple shoot in Winchester and a childrens' design club photobooth shoot a family Christmas party and that's before I start wrapping presents and buying food for Christmas dinner, oh and those mince pie and mulled wine parties! Happy days of course but watching those children interacting with the big jolly man made me step back (literally as I had camera in hand) and think about how I should try and take life just a little bit slower.
